Jim Bisenius began thinking about the idea for ZLoop as a college junior in 2004. Each day Jim interacted in a multitude of different networks; from class to class, from student clubs to school leadership teams then back to his residence hall, all the while trying to stay connected with family, friends, people from church, different projects, companies created in his dorm and a variety of other groups, communities, and networks. During this time, Jim realized e-mail, as the dominant form of interaction, was hopelessly inadequate for the dynamic and collaborative interaction required of him daily. With the world becoming familiar with the rich interaction enabled through the increasing popularity of online communities and collaboration systems, Jim envisioned a mass market tool to give everyone the ability to more accurately replicate their real world interaction online. While working with another software startup, Jim continued to realize such a system would solve a serious need. After 6 months, Jim left to work on ZLoop’s design and development full-time. Subsequent to raising the first round of funding, Jim hired Armin Sedghi to lead ZLoop’s architecture and development. Following a year and a half of development from Armin and ZLoop’s five engineers, the first marketable version of the product was completed.
ZLoop is now in the process of being released to the world.
Jim began forming the idea for ZLoop as a college junior as a result of his increasing interest in software’s potential impact on human relationships and interaction, particularly in connecting and uniting communities. Jim graduated from Westmont College with a double major in Economics and Business and Communication Studies. Jim worked for a variety of different software start-ups prior to ZLoop.
